SUMMARY

SUMMARY In General Gowon’s regime he introduced many programmes aimed at uniting the entire federation of Nigeria. These includes the introduction of unity schools or federal Govt. colleges, the National Youth service corp (NYSC) programmes, the R3 programme of reconstruction, reconciliation and rehabilitation etc. General Gowon in whose regime the Nigeria civil war was fought (1966-1970), felt very much touched psychologically has to introduce series of programmes aimed at promoting love and unity instead of hate and dislike among Nigeria.
